What is an Interview and how can we make it conversational
I strongly believe that the word "Interview" can be replaced with the word "Discussion" Why? Lets view it from perspective of different influencers :- Police - Its asking questions as if someone has committed a crime Journalist - Its asking questions as if someone is indulged in corruption Consultant - Its finding if someone has done something wrong (Shown as what they can improve/do differently) Auditor - Its finding if someone has done something wrong Now compare this with Parents, Teachers and Friends. When employers are looking out for a mix of culture and skill fit, it helps to have a 2 way conversation, not a questioning (under)tone. "A candidate's potential can be measured when we get to know how far they have climbed to get there - Adam Grant" Discussion with a candidate is about their life and not an interrogation, this will help in candidates being more frank.
